you dont have to, but i had them apart anyways to paint the housing black (used to be all chrome inside). You'll probably need at least 2-3 good coats of color, not to mention the clear, so if you dont paint it on the inside, you'll have 4-6 layers of paint on the ouside of the lens, which makes quite a lip. So no, you dont have to, but to do it right you really should.

gonna try it this weekend with vht on the inside and color match on the outside with cc. see what happens I guess. Hope I don't get tired of the look. I know in effin nd you could'nt wait for this day...lol

Glad your weather is making a turn for the best. I was TDY @ WhyNot back in the 90's during Feb and it was %$@#^& cold!!!
My wife asks why I drive with the mirrors out when I'm not towing...I tell her cuz it looks tuff! She laughs and reminds me that I'm 37 not 17. I remind her who pays the mortgage and her Jeep payment, then she reminds me who I go to bed with.

 

Why use VHT???? it is designed to let light through! one coat of reg black will do the same as 5 or 6 coats of VHT. seams silly to me but guess you can do what you want.

 

well folks, heres an update:

just got some bad news today in the form of a letter. My big unveiling will be delayed until further notice due to the IRS being a bunch of facktards. Long story short, I'm gettin semi-audited. It'll be a minimum 45-60 days before I have any chance of my huge refund coming.
