Uh if you are only getting an accurate trans temp in drive there is something wrong. Mine will show that number if you have the truck turned off but once it is started its is fine.

Agreed. You should be getting the normal readings with your truck running no matter what gear you are in.

This gauge is really picking up in popularity here.... going from 1 of 2 to have it about a month or two ago to now having what 8 or so with it. It is a great mod

Yeah, it was just you and frog for the longest time that had it, now everyone (including me) seems like they are getting it. It really is a great piece, especially when you add the wideband kit to it.

I first read about it in your own thread here. Todd mentions several times in various other threads how the Chrysler PCM likes to transmit coolant temp while in Park and then back to the correct trans temp while in drive. And the reason mine was so far off, like yours was, is because the truck was off. I should have been more clear about that. I haven't really payed attention to my gauge while in park so you're probably right that it doesnt affect our year truck.

My post from that thread:

All in all my only complaints are on the install, the gauge is wonderfull and does everything I want it to do. Only question I have now is that when the truck is turned off, the trans temp reads 65496*F, while running its right around 140* or so and everything is working right like the mph and rpms, they are spot on.
Never said while it was running. With the key in the "ON" possiton and the truck not running is where I see that number, when the truck is running itts dead on in every gear.

So Joe, you only get those huge numbers when you have the key on but engine not running?

yep that is correct.

These PCMs are goofy and effect these vehicles differently. Like for instance, when I use the gauge to record my 0-60 times, my dash dings and some dash lights flicker. I've only read this happening on a few other trucks while others say it's never happened before. Also in that same thread todd says this which is why I brought it up.

The trans parameters on Chrylser can be strange at times when the vehicle is not running or in park. On some Chryslers the trans temp will display coolant temp in Park.

That is weird that it has that effect on your dash when you do 0-60. What year(s) does this occur with bc I have not had any issues yet.

I think its random. Not sure really. Also my Cortex wouldnt record my 0-60 times at all, but the 3865 will. The cortex recorded the previous owners times fine though and when I talked to superchips, they said it was a problem with the truck and nothing they would do for me since the tuner was fine.

Here's a thread where a guy with an 05 had the problem. I havent tried doing the 0-60 times again since my dash went berserk so I'll give it a shot again soon and see if it happens again.
