Default 07 Transmission 5th gear

2007 dodge ram 1500 4WD HEMI with 545RFE Transmission.
Does anyone else have trouble getting their truck to shift into 5th gear? I can get it to shift but I have to let off the throttle quickly to get into fifth at or above 65mph. I just did a pan drop and filter change at just over 40k miles. I could tell that the tranny shifts a lot smoother, but no help with 5th gear. Once in 5th, it will stay there and run well and gain speed if desired so I don't think it an issue with enough power. The only way it will shift into 5th on its own is with a downhill, which there arn't many of in western Kansas.

I am wanting to get a Diablo Predator tuner, here before to long but don't have the funds right now. Will this help??
Any opinions or fixes??
Thanks

Sounds like you are running tall tires. What size are they?

I have noticed similar shifting from my 07 as well. If you accelerate gradually to 65-70 it doesn't kick into 5th very quickly (same with the Torque Converter), but if you accelerate harder, and let up at your desired speed, it will kick into 5th no problem. I don't know if it is looking for a certain drop in RPM or throttle position before it shifts into 5th or what. I am running a Superchips right now and I am looking forward to the trans options slated to be released here fairly soon so I can tinker with the settings and dial that shift in.

Try accelerating slightly harder up to your highway speed and see if it shifts into 5th easier. I don't have any other issues with the trans, and I am getting ready to drop the pan for my 30K mi change, so we will see if that has any impact.

Sounds like the same issue. Let me know how your trans options are with the superchips. I was thinking maybe there was a flash for the computer or something of that sort. let me know if you figure anything out.

its just because the stock shift schedule is all kinds of horrible. if you throw a dsp or superchips in there it will make a huge difference.

On my 07' it will shift into 5th at 50mph or so if I let it at normal speeds. I wish it would hit it at 60-65. Sounds terrible when you hit 5th at 50-55 and then mds kicks in.
