Keyless Entry question
hey guys,
bought my truck used from a dealership, auto locks but no keyless remote. my question is, does the 07 ram come w/ keyless entry? if it does, is there a way i can get a remote programmed to work on my locks???
if not, then i know i have the option to have it installed aftermarket, but i would rather use the factory set up, if at all possible...
thnx....

dealers around here in Pa charge $175 for the key itself and $45 to program it?? Thats for a truck with 4 buttons on the key like mine. Mine has Auto start. Finding one on Ebay is a gamble cause if you take it to them to cut and they screw it up its your problem but buying it at dealer its their key till it gets cut right. Also a key can only be programed for one truck so if one on ebay has been programed they cannot reprogram it fo another truck. Not that the key pattern will work but they can put a blank on a used Button fob and sell it... Up to you.
1st things first. make sure it actually has that option installed to begin with, you guessed it a trip to the dealer and have them do a build order for that truck. all you need is the vin# and it's free yeah!! Then go from there. too bad the original owner was a dick and kept the key fob if that was the case, wouldn,t surprise me in this day and age.

The most cost effective solution is to just get an aftermarket starter/alarm combo and you will have 2 brand new fobbs to control your truck with, regardless if you have factory module or not.
If you prefer to have factory....IF you have the module, the dealer will charge you $170 for the key/fobb because they will need to program it to the ecu. Going aftermarket, you can have an actual alarm that does something as well as a remote start feature for pretty much the same price. To me, it's a no brainer.
One of the first things I did was install an aftermarket alarm/starter combo because of the crap factory alarm and the fact i cannot stand the ginormous key/fobb combo. i have a basic key to go with my aftermarket fobb.
Factory alarm is a passive and can be bypassed by any thief. All they gotta do is jam a screwdriver behind the plastic handle and open the door up. As long as it's done on the driverside, the factory Passive alarm will not go off. How great is that?????
