Default Is 5.7 backspacing too much on a 2008 1500?

I have been trying to figure out the whole backspacing thing. I want to run 295/70 17's on my 08 1500 4x4. It has a 2.5 level kit. I want them to stick out some. What are you guys running for backspacing? I am looking at something that is 5.7. The rim is 17x9.

Thanks

Everybody is recommending me to go with 4.5 backspacing but that is on a 20"x10" rim

Standard backspace is in the 4 1/2" range. 5 3/4" may be a bit much. You may be able to find something with seriously negative offset.

If you want them to stick out 1.25" further than the fender....Get 4.5" backspacing on 9" wide wheels. For 3/4", get 5" backspacing. The wider the tire, the further the tire will stick out too. So, 295/70's will be 1.5" out on a 4.5" BS rim.

HERE is a handy chart
