Hey great site good info!

As the title suggests I am English but I live in Germany as I am in the British Army.

My car history as follows....

Ford Escort GTI
Vauxhall Vectra 98'
VW Passat
Volvo V40
Renault Laguna (2001)
Vauxhall Vectra (2002)
Mitsubishi Pajero (1995) Jap Import
Ford Galaxy (2008 + 2009)

As I am in the Brit Army much like the US Army we are entitled to tax free cars. I have 4 children so I need at least 6 seats + plus I have a Siberian Husky.
Each year we can trade our cars in at a very little loss to ourselves hence why I have gone from a Mits Pajero (7str 4x4) to a brand new top of the range Ford Galaxy.

The problem is that I feel really ungrateful in saying that when my wife and I got in our new Galaxy back in May 09' we felt a little deflated as the car was identical, so we thought it would be time for a change.

Since I had the Pajero I have loved 4x4's so I have looked into a Land Rover Discovery which I would argue is the best 7str 4x4 all rounder on the planet at the moment, however the cost is very steep and for small things that come as standard on US vehicle's such as cruise control, I have to pay extra!

There's an English guy I know who works for ENCS and specializes in US imports and he has suggested the Dodge Ram 1500 ST on a Quad cab with chrome everything for $27,000. The only issue I have at the moment is that I have a mid-sized dog, what do I do with her in the flat bed?? Is there a half cover for the flat bed?? would she fit in the flat bed with the roof on?? can I get a big box thingy made up or sent over from the US??

Neil, Welcome, Most on here probably never heard of a Ford Galaxy (British Windstar) but I understand where your coming from, my buddy Das with 4 kids had one and it hauled *** on the motorway. I know a few squaddies here that are thinking about bringing back their Dodge Rams, one guy with an 02 (5.9L) and another with the 4.7. Both say with the price of fuel in the UK and the road taxes charged by engine liter size that they are not sure if they could afford it with their staffie salary. I beleive there are some US Service personnel in UK that have brought over their trucks and are probably having a ball. I remember the first time I saw an F350 squeezing down the narrow streets of Stratford Up on Avon. Any ways you can get a fiberglass topper for a dodge ram from about 2k and up and if you have a sliding window on your truck you can get that on the topper as well. Best of Luck.
