Sounds like a good plan to me. I run the Mobil 1 as well and have no complaints. Can't go wrong with a synthetic.

I run mobil after I hit 15K on all my vehicles and change it every 5K. Still running good ole dino juice in the Ram till I hit 15K. Heck, I just hit 3K the other day and let the dealership do the first (first for them, second oil change on truck) for free. Just use a quality filter and you'll be good to go.

The manual calls for 5-30 in basically all temperatures. I've used Mobil 1 since the 9k change. I got probably an extra 1 mpg but that's a little difficult to quantify, as it could be different factors as well. Cheapest place I've found for either buying the oil for DIY or them changing it is Walmart. They've got the 5 qt jug of Mobil 1 for around $21 bucks, and my Jeep runs about $34 for a change (6 qts vs Hemi 7 qts though--I haven't had them change the Hemi yet)

As far as filters, I've done some research and there's some really poor reviews out there on Fram filters. Most center around inferior media and sloppy manufacturing (not an urban myth--there's actual documentation of cigarette butts found in the filter when cut open). The best rated filters I've found are Mobil 1, Wix and NAPA Gold. The Wix and NAPA filters are around $6-$7, the Mobil1 around $10.

Mill500. I'll back you on the mileage increase since I saw a 1MPG increase when I switched as well. I put Mobil 1 in at the first change, 3K.
