Smile Upgrading wheels & tires, what to expect on mileage?

So I am getting ready to upgrade my wheels on my truck from the stock 20" wheels to new 20" w/33's M/T; I am curious from other members what mileage difference if any they encountered after putting on an aggressive tread of tires. I have heard it isn't that much .5 - 1. MPG, but I have also heard up to 3 MPG?!

Also while on the subject, I am trying to decide between 20x9's or 20x10's, any recommendation on this? I live in the Northwest and they tend to use a lot of cinder for roads in the winter, would the wider tire create more rock chips along the base of my truck?

Thanks for any help.

wider tires will stick out farther and yes, they'll kick up more stuff onto your paint. a 20x9 is really the widest i would go on a 33" tire.

as for mileage, you're gonna GAIN some mileage from the factory 20's (cause they're super heavy), but lose it with a more aggressive tread. honestly i dont think you'll see a noticeable change.. possibly at most 1mpg.

Actually 33" is stock height for the 20" rims.

34" tall tire here lot 1mpg, and lost just a little power, hence the 4.7, but soon to be a superchip installed to get it back
