Question misfire valve #6 and backfire into manifold?

well, went to dealer ordered new valve springs and set of lifters and asked the parts guy (what a mistake should have did my homework) if there was anything else i needed. he said no you are good to go. now i started my projected pulled valve cover off springs look good on valve #6 but changed them. now i come to find out lifters are underneith and i need head gasket (yea try to get that for a 2007 dodge ram 1500 5.7 on a saturday. ) but the lifters also dont look bad but put the new ones in. you would think i have a question in all of this and i do. being i now have the whole top of my motor off is there anything else i should look for? by the looks of everything all appears to be good. i cant get parts till tuesday and i just wanted to know if anyone else had simular things wrong being i still have time to check or order parts..
thanks in advance
chris

head gaskest should be the same for a 2007 as a 2003/4/5 & 6 I believe.

Did you have the misfire diagnosed as a weak spring or something? Did you check the coil pack and other stuff before tearing the engine apart? How did you come of changing all this stuff? If I was you and has all that stuff apart, i would be putting in a mild cam and non-mds lifters. The cost is prob the same as buying OEM replacement parts.

had it checked, on cold starts idle was very rough and had backfire into manifold. when the truck warmed up she ran great. i had a p0306 code from the start and moved the coil packs around and the misfire did not move had good compression 125psi.

i had the same problem too and i would like to let anyone with this problem know what i was able to find. first of all when people post there problems on these sites and request help as i did, it would be nice if some of them posted the final results. second i would like to thank all of the suggestions i did get with my post on this site. Ok my problem was the same just not as bad as this guys. on cold starts engine idle was very bad and had a backfire into the manifold, when she warmed up she ran great. i had p0306 misfire in valve #6. i removed valve cover and replaced both valve springs cost per spring $3.00 valve gasket $25.00 then replaced the rear lifters on that side $120.00 head gasket $35.00 oil change $30.00 and replaced anti freeze $30.00 luckly i had a family member that was able to do this job. started the truck and no back fire and no misfire. total parts about $245.00. if you take it to dealer it calls for 3 hours for valve springs and 8 hours for lifters. it took us about 7 hours for the whole job.. just something to keep in mind it might have been just the valve springs but i changed the lifters just to be safe. i hope this helps anyone with this problem. and again thank you for all the advise from this site. i will use it again for all my questions due to there are many people that take the time to help...
