Default Stock tranny cpabilities?

So as many of you know I'm planning to do a turbo build up soon.

Now I'm curious if anyone knows what kind of power the stock tranny can handle?

with all the minor mods, that we do with the slight gains . Even that destroys the stock tranny we all own and eventually disown btw., So a turbo boost will imo only speed up the process of an r/r transmission in your future.

youre gettin boosted? where the hell have i been?

as for the tranny... considering it can barely hold up to stock hp I would say it is not going to last forever, but what does. run it hard, blow it up, then get a sharadon like ODJ..
what are you going with as far as turbo? how much boost?

I'm going with the 76mm single turbo kit from krc.
Doing a minor motor build (new pistons, rods, studs and a 6.1 cam) and looking for 12 - 14 lbs boost.
I expect to blow the stock tranny up but am more kinda curious as to how long before that happens lol

The very first time you make boost in 4th or 5th gear on the highway. Do you know when you are getting the kit? I wouldn't mind taking a look at it in person. I can also help you rebuild it when it blows up.

I'm planning on ordering the kit in a month or two.
What are you running with your setup for a tranny?

A stage III Sharadon. Actually, my stock transmission lived for a full year with 9 lbs boost on a totally stock 5.7 engine. The pistons gave out before the transmission and was still working fine when it was replaced at Sharadon's shop. A stock tranny wouldn't last very long with me now days. It has been a few years since anything was stock and I forgot how things have progressed. Your truck is much heavier than mine, but transmission failure won't be immediate if you are careful. I have a spare transmission in my garage that I will be upgrading with a Suncoast kit. (or equivalent with single sided frictions and kolene steels)
