Has anyone made a homemade bed cover? Something out of wood, not just a tarp and bungee cords. I am trying to be cheap but also want it to look good. I know, I know, you get what you pay for.

I agree. Wood was top of mind. I am open to any ideas. I am sure someone on DF has fabricated a bed cover....right?

Not wood, epic failure. Save your money and buy one!!! Don't go cheap and buy 2 by's and some 1/2 inch plywood, you WILL be laughed at for sure. Look on ebay or CL for something worth having!!!!!!!!

 

It's not far fetched but wood would be retarded i'm afraid.you could use plexi glass with the mirror finish. But you run the risk of blinding some pilots. ha lol eh bad idea. I guess.

 

I made mine out of wood! cut down some 2x4 s to make a frame. Painted it, to seal it. Then took it to a local shop, to have it covered. I made it so that it sets inside the bed rails, flush to the top, looks great. Sorry i dont have any pics of it at the moment. Ow and i only have $40 in it.

 

You need to move to kansas. You would fit right in.

 

A guy I went to college with did that many years ago. Believe it or not, it actually looked pretty sharp. And it was strong enough for about 4 people to stand on.
