AC Delco oil
Anyone know if ACDelco fully synthetic 5w 30 oil is ok?
I can get a deal on it here in the UK where unfortunately, Mobile1 is like $70 for 5 liters.
Help.

From what I understand, Al, the AC Delco oil available to you in the UK is NOT the same as AC Delco oil available here in the States.
It is produced by the Arabian Petroleum Supply Company in Saudi Arabia and shipped directly to the UK.
Although it is NOT a 100% true synthetic, it does have a minimum of 60% synthetic in it and therefore can be called a "full" synthetic. Despite this, it was originally developed for all gas engines for use in the very hostile climates of the middle east. It has gotten VERY SOLID reviews whenever I read anything on it. The viscosity holds up very well under extreme heat and it has superior qualities for fighting against sludge and contaminant build up.
By contrast, the AC Delco filters do not fare as well, with case studies showing that even though it is equipped with a anti-drainback valve, the seals are of poor quality and does allow for a considerable amount of blow back, thus allowing contaminants to seep back into the pan.
The only filters to have shown NOT to allow ANY contaminant to re-enter in the case study I have would be the Wix (Napa Gold) and the Purolator Pure One filters. Although with most other brands, including the AC Delco, the amount of contamination is considered to be very minor and insignifcant to engine performance, with the exception being the Fram filter, which is totally unacceptable...

I've read that the Mobile 1 we have here in the UK is also not the same as in the USA???
Would you run the AC Delco in your truck?
Mines a non modified Hemi except for the LPG and a cutout.

based on what I've read on it, yeah... I know a lot of guys who run the Quaker State 4x4 oil and it has less than the 60% synthetic so it HAS to be called a "blend" and they swear by that oil...
