Default Lift question

I have stock 17" rims and tires on my truck right now and will be buying new tires eventually but I was just wondering if it would look stupid to have a lift kit on my truck right now with the stock stuff and if not what size lift would look good because I would rather stay with 17's if possible I can afford bigger rims and tires

ah man its really up to you and what you think you would want to drive. In reality your truck would look fine with your current wheels and tires with a basic 3" body lift or 4-6" suspension lift. I'd personally say save your money and do it all at once. Tires/wheels/lift/gears. The truck looks good the way it is now since everything is proportional, and will look good for awhile. I'd hate to see you compromise on something you only half like when you could wait a little longer and get what you really want. Just my opinion though. But if you are looking for opinions, If I had your truck, my ideal setup would be replace your rims with some aftermarket 17X9s or 10s. Then get a 35x12.5 aggressive tire. Not sure if you have 2wd or 4wd? Something like a 4-6" suspension lift w/ level would look good. Top it off with some 4.56 gears to help that 4.7 roll with the new tires and install a detroit tru track lsd. I know the $$$$$$$$ are piling up, but when it comes to lifts, you gotta pay to play. Let us know what you end up deciding on!

You could go the route I am going to get tires, level it, and get a larger set of meats on there with it leveled, then save some money for a lift, that way when you lift it, you can sell your level kit, you have larger tires to fit the lift a little better, not as big as you could have, but much better than your stock tires, then be happy with your lift tire combo until your next round of tires on which you could buy a size up

It's up to you, 33" tires would fit now, but not look too small with any lift from a 2" level thru a 3" body lift or up to about a 4" suspension lift. If you are thinking 6" of lift though, I would think you would want 35" tires which will not fit right now.

Wheel size is NOT a factor as far as tire fitment is concerned. A 35" tire is 35" in diameter whether it's on a 17" wheel or a 22" wheel.

i agree with this guy! it makes sense to do the way he said. I actually did the lift in 07,then moved back to the ny and got the tires done at the end of 08. The truck looked ok with a 7in lift from cst, but i didn''t like the fact that i had stock tires or stock gears.
