Default TB Clean, sparkplugs and 89 octane

Hi everybody, I'm fairly new here, haven't made many posts, just spending time reading the posts and doing a lot of searches and I can see there is a vast knowledge bank here.

With that out of the way...

I purchased a really clean 2005 quad cab 4X4 Hemi with 77,000 km on it last month. Since then I have been doing a lot of reading and searching for information on how to make it even better. One of the things I would like to improve on (as most of us would) is its fuel consumption.

I have spent the last two evening searching this forum for answers to my specific questions and I think I know the answer but I'm going to ask the question anyway for a more specific answer.

As I mentioned, it has 77,000 km on it and I highly doubt that the spark plugs and throttle body have ever been touched. I'm going to change the plugs on Saturday and clean the TB at the same time. Can I expect any measurable change in fuel mileage or performance from this. It doesn't appear to be sluggish at all and I'm getting around 11 - 12 mpg around town according to the trip computer.

Lastly is there anything else I should be doing at this point. (Not including any mods, hopefully they will come later)

I should mention that the truck is completely stock.

Thanks

it should help improve a little. It varies from truck to truck. Cleaning the TB and changing the plugs will be beneficial regardless. A good flowing exhaust, cold air intake, and a tuner can also help with mileage and increased horsepower.

Let me know how the cleaning goes.. I'm bout to pull my 03's intake off and do a DIY CAI.

Probably do plugs and clean the throttle body at the same time.

This is a truck so don't expect any dramatic increase in mgp. That being said I (through the excellent advice and instructionals here)
recently changed plugs (which were badly gapped), cleaned TB which was filthy. Also EGR valve which was acting up. Getting my
best mileage at 92K since buying the truck at 52K. A little over 2mpg improvement on highway. I drive 100 mile roundtrip commute to
work so every bit counts. Plus engine just feels smoother and peppier.

thats about all i get in mine, but its lifted. I saw an increase after the Superchips tuner and CAI were installed. I run the premium 91 octane setting on my SC with obviously 91 octane all the time now though.
