Update! So the mechanic called and said the check engine light was set off by a false indication for the O2 sensor. But the light stayed on and the sensor works. So that's kinda strange. I told him to change it anyway and reset the stuff and I'll drive it and see what happens.....
Then he said the truck needed computer updates that only the dealer can do. Which is lame. So I have to deal with the dealer :-/
then it turns out the pinion seal is leeking so I'll have to get that changed.
As far as the fuel pump goes, the truck gave the mechanic NO trouble starting up. So he was doubtful of the fuel pump being bad and to get this other stuff taken care of first. If the truck has problems starting again after all this emissions and computer crap, then the pump is next on the chopping block
any more input dodge brothers?

When you change your pinion seal, DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE PINION NUT. It will mess up your crush sleeve and cause your rear end to go out. Trust me on this one. It is a very expensive mistake. You can read several threads on DF on how to do it correctly. Just an FYI.

I heard about that, I'm having the dealer fix that seal for me. I work on my old cars but when it comes to the daily driver I like to have them do it. Thanks for the concern though
truck has been running fine since the o2 sensor was changed. No starting issues yet. Knock on wood
