Default help engine blew up!

ok I have a 5.9 and was driving about 40 mph and the truck started running ruff like it was missing so I pulled over and it idled real low open hood no spark plug wires loose so I was 2 miles from home drove slow then had my buddy pick it up this morning and took it to the shop he told me 2 injectors stop working and piston 5 and 6 are not moving and there is a knocking noise
so he needs to take out the vow cover to see if the rods are bent
ok so did i **** up on driving it or is it just bad injectors or do I need a new block ?by the way I have 117829 miles on the motor

for just a simple basic day-to-day crate motor I would call Autozone and get a price on an engine. They sell both long blocks and short blocks. There are places you can get a more preformance type engine but it just depends on what you are looking for. I would really price another engine on Craigslist and like places.

Depending on your trouble found, you may just be able to replace the two rods and injectors or also those with the crank depnding on what is knocking (worn rod ends or crank journals + bearings) and worst case you can replace the entire thing.

I would take it to another shop and get a second opinion.

For all the work that needs done I would do a engine swap, A long block is a motor with most of the additional parts bolted on like, manifolds and water pump and power steering attached. Shlt like that. A short block is block, heads and intake if your lucky. thats it. Oh and price is cheaper btw.

actually, a short block is no heads and no oil pan.

long block includes heads, valve train, valve covers, oil pan. no water pump, no throttle body or carb.

your buddies description seems a bit flaky. in order to determine that pistons 5 and 6 are not moving, he'd have to remove the oil pan and disconnect all the rods, and then push on the pistons. did he do this ?

and non-working injectors is the same thing as the new hi-tech MDS system. that doesn't hurt anything.

i'm calling BS on your buddy.
