Default very strange electrical problem.

I am looking for ideas on a problem my son is having with his 2006 Ram 1500 with the 4.7 v8.He has several weird electrical problems that just appeared for no reason. His check brake light is on,the dome light stays on and can't be turned off,the speedometer doesn't work and he gets 2 fault codes u1417 and u1418.The codes indicate a bad reading from the left and right distance traveled sensors.I can't find any information on these codes and I am hoping that someone here can give me a clue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks John

The only thing I can think of that would give you the brake light or abs light and the speedo not working is the speed sensor on top of the axle pumpkin. Do a search for threads and type in "speed sensor" in the 3rd gen ram section. As far as the dome light it could possibly be you have a bad interior dimmer switch. Hope that helps a little.

Just for info there are speed sensors in the front axles on our trucks to, on each side, by the brakes, on the front of the casing for the hubs.
