wont work, plastidip is flexible, clear coat is hard. it WILL crack, and look nasty.

This is a thread jack, but THANK YOU for not starting another Plastidip thread...lol

If your intentions are to peel off the plasti-dip each time you go out...forget it.
If you want a more permanent solution, then I would reccomend removing all the rust and scuffing the chrome surface dull before apllying anything.

I'm surprised out of all these Plasti-dip threads that NOBODY has mentioned or has used POR15? That stuff is chip proof, hammer proof, scratch proof....on and on and on.... I used that stuff for my trailer and wrapping chains around the frame haven't chipped or marred the surface at all: however, the stuff needs to be sealed from UV lights as well. POR15 can be had in various colors as well.
All I know is that if it was me....POR15 would be goin on my wheels or bumper over Plastidip..after all, your likely to apply it to your wheels and not remove it.

Dog, that stuff does look good. Not too expensive but I hate having to order something every time you need it!

And Green Machine, I made the mistake of getting brushed alum ATV rims and they are stained like crazy....tell me how it goes, cause I know mine get beat to hell

I want something to stick as long as possible with no chips. Well see how it turns out the rims only set me back 30 so we will see

I order darn near EVERYTHING. Either i can't get it around here or the prices are outrageous. After the first few hundred ordered items, I have no problems waiting a couple of days to save a couple of bucks now. I usually save what i spend because places around here are double what I can pay online.
If I'm shopping on Ebay, i look at the shipping times and generally don't buy from across the US for ground shipments. I stick to the 2-3day material.
I usually plan things out and dont do them "on a whim". i guess I'm just getting old...lol
