Default Overhead Console Install

Hi,
I've got an 08 RAM Quad SXT with no overhead console...just bought an overhead console/ wiring/ bracket for an earlier truck (part 56045573AE).
Will this work in my 08?
Any info on how to wire this?
It would be great if all functions work but all I really need is the compass and lighting...just the basics!

Thanks

The correct module numbers for your year are 56049824AC (without homelink) and 56044864AC (with homelink). The module you have listed comes up for a 2003. This likely won't work because Rams went from a PCI Bus data/electrical system to a CAN bus in 2006. Once you get the right module and console, you will need a harness, either a junkyard one with enough length to splice in, or if you make one. You would need either this, this, or this.

As suggested I purchased a console on ebay (56044864AC).

The lights have three wires:

Black
Yellow/Tan tracer
Yellow/Orange Tracer

The Computer has Four wires:

Black
White
White/Orange tracer
Red/Grey Tracer

Wondering if anybody can identify the wires.
The console is off an 06...will they match exactly with my 08?
Where can I find the location of these wires in my truck? (I currently have no overhead console at all).

Thanks in advance.

There is a better than even chance that there is no data pigtail going up to where you need it, you may have to make one. If you have existing overhead lights, then the lights in the console will use this same plug. This is where the right service manual with accurate wiring diagrams will come in handy (I think weedahoe has the 08 FSM, maybe if you ask him nicely..?)

I completed my install today, but I am missing a function or two. The instant fuel mileage is not displayed and it does not seem to reset the trip odometer or the avg fuel mileage.

Does this need to be enabled by the great STAR tool or something? The truck did not come with an overhead console.

I tried the unit on a friends 2500 and in that truck it did display the instant fuel MPG.

Also is the module in the console actually a computer or more of a display from the ECM?

Hey HemiLonestar

Is this one of the high end consoles?

I thought you said before the buttons had the printing on them vs printed on the plastic. Also take notice the reset and step buttons are reveresed???

Anyone else that knows please jump in too
