I have 3" duals after the muffler on mine, I love it. Don't really have anything to compare it to, but its pretty damn loud with a FM 40.

Im a fan of a whole new setup personally but the mag Y will work just as well if you dont want to spend the cash. Bad muffler shops will want to sell you there **** at a very high cost cause thats how they make their money and they also give bad advice most of the time as well when it comes down to sound and performance. Either go to a new place or tell the dip to do what you, the customer, is paying them to do.

It seems of all the types of shops you can go to for a vehicle, muffler shops are the ones who rival the stealerships in lack of knowledge and over-all BS skills.

I got a buddy I play golf with on occasion here who recently purchased a Cheby Colorado (yeah don't say it, I know) who went to a local shop who stocked either no-name, not box mufflers hanging on the wall or Flowmasters. Now I'm not really bashing FMs, hell I had a FM50HD for a few years on this truck, but the shop owner tried to sell the guy a FM 40 and told him they were full stainless steel and he's never seen one have a hint of rust on it, even in this salty Florida coast air AND that independent tests have shown that it actually flow BETTER than no muffler at all, was the best flowing brand of muffler short of high dollar racing mufflers that were illegal for use on the highway!

Now IMO this man needs to be locked in a room and have a hornets nest thrown through the door, after being well shaken, of course!!!

Yeah one of my friends took his furd down to a midas and wanted to get rid of his huge magnaflow muffler (the thing looked like a 55gal drum bolted on under it) with a much much smaller AT3030... The muffler guy then proceeded to tell him that there would be no difference in sound, that the AT3030 would more than likely be quieter that the magnaflow he had and that there was no reason for the upgrade because there was no performance gains from doing it either... Im amazed that they are in business still

thats why i am going to be doing it myself from now on.... some of these shops are absolutely ridiculous and it hurts the shops that actually know what they are talking about... because people just stop trusting them

My vortex definitely got louder the more I used it. It sounds great now, but the extreme does not have the fiberglass in it so it should not have as drastic a change as one with!

Congrats on the purchase, and get a new shop or do it yourself!!!

yeah, 3" duals on a 4.7 is too much. i think stock its like two 2.25" from the manifolds into a 2.5" to the muffler. i think at least. IMO youd be best off sticking with 2.5"

on a side note, after hearing everybodies horror stories with muffler shops. down here in Oceanside, we have Richards Performance Muffler. They are AWESOME. very knowledgeable guys, outstanding work, and no BS. I tried to buy the magnaflow Y from them, they told me they would have to order it, but if i wanted they could fab me up a new one right then. i agreed, and they did an awesome job on it. although if i did want the mag, they would have ordered it, and installed it with no grief. They even knew exactly what i was talking about when i brought up the crappy stock Y. I refer all my friends to them now.

edit: here ya go rocket.
