anyone used longer struts for 08 4wd instead of spacers?
i have a 2008 dodge ram 1500 qc hemi sxt and was wondering if anyone has used the lifted struts instead of the spacers. where can you find them and are there any other kinds other then belstien?
i believe rancho makes a quicklift strut as well. look into that. but to the best of my knowledge, bilstein and rancho are the only two. the bilsteins are awesome. ive put a few on buddie's trucks
No 2 inch max. setting. i have a pair ready too install. odj how was the install?? did you remove the upper ball joint to apply.
i did the install on a couple of tacomas. they have the option of 1", 2" or 2.5". just take the old strut out, take the spring off it, put the spring on the new strut (with the clip in place for desired amount of lift) and reinstall. shouldnt take more than 2-4 hours.
does the bilstein's give it the 2.5" leveling to match the back
No. Bilstein Lift struts give a maximum height of 2". The Rancho Quicklifts offer up to 2.5" lift because they have an adjustable control for soft-firm. These types utilize spring preload to achieve the height. The higher you go , the more preload and it gets bouncy. So I assume that's why Rancho does it...??? Plus, 2.5" looks like the front is higher than the back, but then some look perfectly level which why you get incrimental adjustments every 1/2" too. READ this article.
