Banks Ram-air intake done!!
I put in my new Banks Ram-air intake over the weekend so I thought I would post a few pics. The get up and go of this truck has always impressed considering its size and weight. That being said, I'm not sure if I feel a power difference realistically or subconsciously, but man does the turbo whistle loud now...and did I mention that I love to hear the turbo whistle?
I recently read another thread where someone cut the bottom out of their factory airbox. The bottom of this one comes open (for adding a Banks super scoop), and the side towards the quarter panel, from where the factory airbox got its air, is open as well.

That's the key to diesels. It's a lot more imperative that you open up the intake and the exhaust first before adding chips. Otherwise, the motor can't get air fast enough and/or it wont get exhaust out fast enough. Yes, it's important on gasers, but not as bad. A choked up diesel will fall right on its face if one of the two aren't open enough.

More flow also = lower EGT. Further more if you tow on big grades or like to run big tunes around town I would look into a snow performance methanol injection kit with the 8 gal reservoir. Meth is pretty cool stuff and it can allow you to run more tune while keeping your EGT's down. Also really good peace of mind when towing big hills on hot days. Well worth the 4 or 5 bills.
