Default Spark Plug Help 08 Ram 1500

I'm replacing my spark plugs for Ram 1500 4.7 flex fuel. Ordered Bosch 4428 Platinum plugs as recommended by numerous web sites. When I removed the original plugs (Bosch FR8TE2) they are not the same length (3/8" longer). I called the dealership and they recommended Champion SPFR8TE2AA. Went to purchase these and was told that number doesn't exist, confirmed this with Champion. Champion doesn't make this plug anymore and doesn't have a recommended replacement (due to contract disputes).

Will the Bosch 4428 work? Any help would be appreciated

John

This is from your owners manual;

Type: FR8TE2 (intake)
Type: FR8T1332 (exhaust)

Bosch Nickel Yttrium plugs (intake)
Bosch Iridium plugs (exhaust)

OEM P/N 5149050AB (intake side)
OEM P/N 5149888AA (exhaust side)

Gap 0.039 (intake)
Gap 0.051 (exhaust)

Those part numbers are the ones from dodge. You probably wont have much luck finding those numbers in stores. These are the ones that should work for you.

Intake (upper) = Bosch Super Plus (this is the correct Nickel Yttrium plug) FR8LCX( stock # 7962 )

Exhaust (lower) = Bosch PlatinumIR Fusion (this is the correct Iridium plug) FGR8LQI0 ( stock # 4508 )

Bosch is pretty much your best bet. NGK doesnt even make plugs for your engine. Hope this info works for ya.

Do a search on the stock#7962 - you will find it.....that part number is actually the dealer part number and the plugs are Bosch Supers.....the dealer has them for about $4.60 and you can get them on line for something like $2.

Here is a pic of the 7962 on the left and SPFR8TE2AA (Bosch) on the right, as you can see they are not the same plug.

the plug is the same thread pitch and everything else... the plug being slightly shorter is not a big deal, do a search online and you will see hundreds of people have used the 7962's.

Ben, that is not slightly shorter...it's a lot shorter, a half inch. The 7962 is a FR6 plug. If you have those in a 4.7 pull them and quick like.
