Engine Oil Cleaning
Change over to decent quality synthetic engine oil and won't need to do those crankcase flushes. Get a Mobil M1-301 filter or Wix comparable (1qt size) for maximum filtration capacity. I've extended my drain cycles out to 7500 miles doing this. My oil drains out darkened, but never dirty.
I've used Gunk flush in the past but stick with just using synthetics now. They keep your engine clean. I used Mobil one for 9 years with 10K oil changes on wifes Caravan. Had to replace a valve cover gasket recently and it was squeaky clean inside at 138K. I'm confident doing 8K changes on my truck, which is every 4 months with the miles I'm driving now.

if your worried about the gunk cleaner, or the diesel fuel getting left in there...fill up with the cheapest oil you can find.. run the engine up for a few minutes until hot again. and then drain that.
THen put in your preferred oil.
Another trick is when you have about a 1/4 tank of fuel left. take about a little of dextron III tranny fluid and dump that in your tank. Then go about your business and fill up when you reach an empty tank.
The detergents in the tranny fluid will clean your fuel lines, pump and injectors.
BTW before anybody comments on my tranny fluid trick i want to point out it does smoke alittle bit, but that just means its working.. it will not leave any residue in the combustion chambers.

ATF is ok to add to the fuel tank for a diesel engine but not for a gas powered engine. There is no positive outcome for adding ATF to the fuel tank of a gasoline engine that is EFI. ATF will have a direct negitive impact on the O2 sensor and the 3-way Cat.
ATF added to the engine oil is totally different than adding it to the gas tank!

When cleaning the diffs with the covers off make sure that the Brake-Cleen can fully drain from the center housing. Air dry with clean dry shop air so there will be no remaining brake-cleen when the new gear lube is added.
