A newb with a few questions
Hey all,
I have been reading on the forum here for several months and now I am out of school and working and I am ready to buy my first Ram. It`s going to be a 3rd gen 4x4 with the hemi. I am still trying to decide between reg cab and q-cab. Can anyone tell me the weight difference between the two? I love to drag race so my Ram is going to have some performance mods for sure. I also want to lift it when I get it. I want to have 35 inch tires. What is the least amount of lift that I can get that will fit 35`s and not rub anything? The roads here in WV are very curvy and I am wondering if by lifting the truck is it going to make it more top heavy in the curves?
Sorry for the newb questions.
Thanks in advance
Matt

this will help with the tire clearance question...

if you want a lifted drag racing ram you are best off with a regular cab, but if you plan to haul a bunch of women around you will wish you had the qc... you can clear 35's with a level. if you plan on doing performance mods (motor wise) get an '04+ Ram... the '03's always get left behind in the tuning
good luck!
good luck!
04 gets the shaft on a lot of stuff too. Go with 05+. You're never gonna be fast with a lifted 4x4 ram, but a RC will be faster than a QC. QC's are about 600 lbs heavier. My QC 4x4 on 35's weighs in at around 6000 with me in it and full tank of fuel.
You CAN run 35's on a 4by with just a level but you'll probably need to get some wheel spacers for them not to rub. Personally I would look at maybe a level and a body lift or a lift somewhere in the 4" range to run 35's and still have good articulation with no rubbing. Those are just my thoughts on it. Good luck with your new purchase.

unless you just want poser 35s
its your truck but if you want to drag race, dont lift it.
if you want a lifted truck. dont plan on racing it.
your just asking for trans, engine, rearend and front components problems when your constantly going WOT with 35" tires.
Ive apparently got one of the heaviest 1500's out there because the last 4 times ive scaled out empty with only myself in it and 3 outa 4 times ive only had 1/4 tank i was at 6250 lbs. and im only 188 myself.
