Default a little oil mix fyi

well, for me anyway. Last week i was gettn the ram ready for a 2500 mile round trip to orlando florida from jersey. checked all fluids, rotated tires and washed and waxed. I had 7 quarts of amsoil 5w20 semi sunthetic and noticed i was a quart low. the amsoil had 2800 miles on it and short notice it was impossible to find amsoil.....anywere. I logged on to trusty dodge forum to see about mixing oils and found some goods but more not so goods. well i had no choice and no time to do a full swap. i topped off with one quart of mobile one 5w20 full synthetic. 17 hrs one way strait through only stopping for gas, ( 3 times....ouch). oil was fine with no foam or discoloration. burnt a whole tank drivn around down there then 3 more strait through back home. ram ran great as expected. **yet another reason i love my truck**

76000 miles-stock intake, with fram filter, wix oil filter, with synthetic oil.
all mopar fluids in tranny and xfer case. And pennzoil in the diffs. only mods are a gibson super truck exhaust and a lead foot

* and a new addition to a all mopar family. my mom just braught home a brandy new 2010 blue challenger r/t

Only an idiot would tell you that you can't mix different brands of oil. Hell you could of put dino oil in there and it would have been fine. BTW sounds like your mom got a sweet ride, you gonna get to take it for a spin?

There have always been claims that if you mix different brands of oils, the additives in one could render the additives in another inert, thereby decreasing the performance of the oil.
Personally, I can buy that to a degree, but not the degree that it would actually make the properties of an oil compromised enough to actually do damage to an engine.
IMO, use the same brand and viscosity of oil in your truck whenever you can, but if you have to mix, then mix. It's better to have the proper amount of two different brands of oil in your truck than it is to NOT HAVE ENOUGH oil in your truck...
