Figured you guys would say the hemi. I definitely don't want to get a 4.7 to then find out it isn't enough. There are 2 in my price range within about 3.5 hours of my home near Yosemite but I don't have the cash yet. Going to be another month before I have it. Anyway, one is a 04 hemi with 60k on it and the other is a 06 4.7 liter with 97k on it. Take a look and let me know what you think, maybe I will get lucky and they will still be available when I have my cash. No financing for me, everything is CASH ONLY!

There are a few others I have seen in my price range but they are 2002's and from what you guys have said I think I want to stay away from them because of the tranny.

I'm about 30 miles from Fresno up in the mountains in Coarsegold. Yeah it looks like a nice Hemi! Hope it's available still when I have my cash!

100%, I've owned two Chevy's with 5.3s. Now I understand the Avalanche I had is a damn near 8000# pig and should never have had a 5.3 in it. (GM has ALWAYS underpowered their vehicles, can you say 5 cylinder in a Hummer?, LOL)

But I spend a lot of Saturday nights at the local track when I'm up at the farm, it's the natural gathering place on the weekends, second only to church. It's common knowledge that when a close to stock Chevy truck with a 5.3 comes up against a Ram with a 4.7, it's over! And I have MANY buddies with 5.3s who will openly admit it...

Yea the 4.7 doesn't have much in the way of horsepower but it damn near matches the 5.3 in torque. I'm still shocked to hear that a 4.7 can smoke a 5.3.. I was always worried about racing the 5.3 silverados with my HEMI due to the chance of getting embarrassed.
