Default stock alarm capability/cell phone notifications

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of sensors the stock alarm in an '07 ram has, can other sensors be added to it, specifically something that would go off if someone were breaking into my toolbox? also my friend has a ford and says the factory alarm will call his cell phone when it goes off, is there a way to add this to mine? Thanks

The only system I know of that will call your cell phone is the viper system which you can add to any vehicle. You can add all sorts of sensors such as proximity, if your door opens, if someone reaches thru an open window, if you vehicle is being jacked up or shaken, any of the above and if you have an iphone you can even lock/ unlock your doors from anywhere. I believe you could hook up a door sensor to your tool box, but keep in mind viper is not cheap. also check out compu star.

I would really have to see a factory ford alarm call or notify his cell phone. Lots of after market alarm system have 2way paging or even GSM built it. 2way paging notifies a remote and lets you know what is going on. GSM requires you to have cell phone coverage which you have to pay for and it will notify your phone. But again, it is not free.

As for OEM alarm systems, these will do nothing but go off if you open the door. You can break the glass and hit the truck all day and nothing will happen.

If you have something you want to protect then get something reputable and after market and also get some Jimmy Jammers for your doors.

The only thing that will gurantee your truck does not get broken into is hire 2 private armed guards to sit in the bed of your truck all day and night. I would suggest before spending money on an alarm system simply cover your truck with a good insurance policy and take pictures or whatever you have to do to prove what you have in your truck is actually there. Then if someone breaks in and steals your stuff, although EXTREMELY annoying and a huge inconvience, you will get your stuff back or atleast money to buy new stuff. And if you're like me, I bought all my audio stuff on ebay much cheaper than from a dealer, the insurance will give you what the dealer charges so you can get even better stuff the second time around lol. My truck got jacked when I had older hemi chrome rims (which I paid $500 on craigslist for) and they left my truck on blocks but insurance paid for a nice set of special edition mopar chromes, good deal if you ask me lol.

Or you could get a trunk monkey to live in your tool box:

My autopage alarm is set sensitive enough that if you bang on the toolbox it will go off. Light hits on the toolbox or truck also make it beep a few times. If somebody was back there trying to pry the door open, I would Imagine that they would have to be rough enough to set the damn alarm off.
