Unhappy 4x4 problem!!! Please help!!!

ok. ive got a 2005 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with the offroad package. i think i have a problem with my 4x4. used to in 4x4 both front tires would spin in the mud or anytime they spun. and now only one tire spins and 90% of the time it is only the the passenger front tire that spins and the front driver's side don't and when i have it in 4x4 it makes a wining noise and it just doesnt really sound right period. cause it has never done this before. i dont know if i have a limited slip in the front but if i do could it be i just have burned it up from so much use or stress??? or could the gears in the front differential be stripped or could it be that the tcase is going out or what could it be? what could the problem be? what do yall think the problem is? any help will be grately appreciated.

Well you know at least one of the front tires spins when 4X4 is engaged so that should eliminate the transfer case. The best way to tell if something is jacked up in the diff is to get the stuff to change the gear oil and gasket and open it up to see. If no metal shavings or gear teeth sitting on the bottom you may just have a sticking lsd gear. Sometimes water gets in there when muddin and the corrosion takes over. You will know if that is the case once its opened up.

Im not sure about dodge but the GMCs used to have some sort of selinoid in the front diffs to engage the lockers if i am correct. They would stick and cause the thing to not engage. I could be completely wrong on this but it is what I read up on when I had a 98Yukon 4X4. Unless you are a professional mechanic that deals with 4X4 systems then taking it to one is your best bet. Just be prepaired to pay. Its why I did not go with a 4X4 this time as there to many things that can go wrong with them.
