Repainted Grille/Tails...pics
Well guys, I hate to admit it after all of my time spent with spray bombs, but I will never touch a can of spray paint again! I bought a spray gun, cheap harbor freight one, and started practicing a little. Got a scrap fender, some cheap paint, and started at it. I painted our 18ft trailer, some chairs, etc. So this weekend I decided to try my luck at REpainting my grille and taillights.
When using spray cans, I paid $30 for a can of PXR match paint, $6 for a can of Duplicolor clear, plus adhesion promoter and primer. All in all I would say I was in it for around $50 excluding sandpaper. Well, bugs got in the paint, I had to sand down to the plastic because they would not come off with anything. It wasnt shiny or very close to a match, and it bugged me. Same thing with the tails Pics:

Well heres after using $9.12 worth of match paint and $20 of clear, and I have 2/3 left over. Easy as pie, and this is all before wetsanding/buffing. I have Critical Care rotations right now and I dont have time this weekend!

i will when I have time....I just dont know if I wanna Powdercoat them or spray them, but im leaning towards powdercoating them
yea Im using a 8gal 125psi compressor. The HVLP guns dont require a huge amount of pressure, but a 3gal pancake compressor wont do it. Like 1-3hp and 50psi.
I bought two at $7.99/each with a coupon the other day..lol as long as you keep the thing clean and strain your paint good it sprays fine. I will be buying a better one in awhile though.

I use that same gun at work and for the price you cant beat it. I wouldnt worry about buying a better one unless you plan on doing a lot of painting. The truck looks great.
