Default Replace CV Assembly........AGAIN!!!

I think I started a thread on this back in March when I replaced it the first time but basically the truck wouldn't go back into 2wd from 4WH and the shop replaced the cv assembly on the driver's side. This was fine for a few kms until the half shaft seperated from the inner joint and I got the truck towed back to the shop to replace the defective part. Now, 3 months later, this part has crapped-out in exactly the same place except it did not fail as dramatically as before. It seems pretty strange to get 2 defective parts within 3 months of each other fail in the same way.

Anyways, she's gettin towed in to the shop again tomorrow to replace the part that is under warranty. I'm just wondering if there is something the mechanic hasn't checked that could contribute to the failure??

Any thoughts?

Rebuilt CV joints never last. If you had rebuilt ones put in you can go back and get replacements put in for free on a regular basis or spend the money and have new axles put in. New CV joints are made of hardened steel while rebuilt ones have been machined out and aren't as hard.

Alternatively as what happened to me (twice), but then I realized the diff axle that holds the clip (long one passenger side) for the spicer pot on the CV half shaft was worn on the edge like a carrot, $75 bucks at the dealer for a new axle and it has never poped off even at 6300 RPM in 4H. A new clip each time is also a must.

The Cardone new replacements are Very Tough, when your coffee in the drink holder shakes and the steering is not then they are worn again and will require changing, so far no more shaking for me.
