Default problem with nightshades

Well I've follwed the diy for spraying the tails and I've done it 3 times now and everytime it turns out really really foggy/cloudy.. I've sanded, sprayed light even coats, and first one I didn't put clear coat.. But fogged up, so I put it on the next 2.. And nothing, what am I doing wrong? And I've cleaned them everytime really good

once you get the clear coat (make sure its not top coat, thats just a dull clear coat) you have to wet sand and polish with something like mcguires rubbing compound. try that.

If you have already done it a few times, I would try and use paint thinner to get all the paint off of them, make sure you sanded them before you paint the lights too.

i have always heard of people sanding them smooth.. on my jeep i just cleaned with "goo gone" so no residue, and sprayed night shades on thin coats.. came out nice and glossy no fog no imperfections.

Could be moisture in the air or the humidity.. Did you spray them outside? When paint clouds up, it usually means there is moisture present in the air.

well you need to look at the type of clear. Acrylic clear is the cheaper version and good for certain applications, but not this. If it is cloudy, you could try warming your oven to the lowest setting, turning it off, and setting it in there for a few. Any moisture or wet paint would dry up, allowing you to see if there was a haze left

The nightshades itself shouldnt fog up...and if you are using a good clear and its fogging you either sprayed it on too thick/too early or you need to turn the can upside down, spray it out a bit, and then try it

im with you. i know i painted them in my garage and then carried them into my bathroom and put the poop fan on to help with drying. Moisture in the air can really mess with paint finish

I did 4 coats with little sanding, then 3 heavy coats of clear with wet sanding. I sanded each side for close to an hour then polished the crap out of them with rubbing compound. Look like glass.
