hey my name is alex and i just bought a 2003 dodge ram 1500 laramie, and i love it. the chasis has 104k but the 360 magnum engine and diff. both have only 4000 miles on them theyer brand new! so far i have a custom specter intake similar to the k&n design, a super 44 muffler and i switched to royal purple oil. i dont know alot about dodges so im asking EVERYONE what esle can i do to get more HP. ive thought about a bigger throttel body and posibly headers but what else can i do? please respond! thankyou!

 

Welcome Alex. First we like pics around here so that has to be first and foremost. There's a few things you can do to bump the performance. A good person to ask may be cherry ram. But I'd start with an efan then probably move over to 4.56 gears after you do your throttle body and headers. When I get the money, that's my next project. I'm sure others will chime in.

 

get a tuner, like the superchip or the sct. thats the biggest bang for your buck.

 

the superchips is a great mod for the 5.9! somthing like a +40somthing HP gain and +50 somhing tq gain.

harland sharp 1.7 roller rockers are a great mod as well. and hughes make a super-pimp intake that would go great with a bigger bore TB. and like said e-fan is a good replacement to clutch fan, 180* t-stat. you can relocate your iat sensor into the intake tube for a cooler temp reading. use copper core plugs, and at least 8mm plug wires. (ive had the best luck with champion truck plugs and accel plugs)

IMO i would ditch the flowmaster but im very partial to magnaflow with a 5.9

Get the HS 1.7 rr's. Great mod for the 360.

 

First thing you want to do before you add anything is check the plenum and make sure the plate has been replaced with an aluminum one(Hughes kit). I know you said it's a brand new motor but you didn't say if it was a long or short block. If it was a long block I'd hope the problem would have been addressed already. If you start adding a SC or throttle body or headers and your plenum is still leaking, that thing's gonna ping like a SOB.

The 1.7's are great as long as you don't plan on doing a cam. If you do, skip the 1.7's, go with a 1.6 RR and just order a bigger cam.

As far as mods, check the plenum and get the superchips, swap out that tank of a muffler with a magnaflow and go from there.
