tires
need some new tires on my 08 ram 1500, I want an aggressave tread but not something that is going to be to loud. I wonna go with some 33s its on a 20 inch rim. got any pics or advice on what is good or not thanks
I've personally had terrible luck with Goodyears and BFGs.
First thing I'd do is ditch the 20s in favor of 17s for a few of reasons. Number 1, it will lighten the weight which is a biggie with the 4.7. Number 2, it will give you a decent amount of sidewall for flex and bump absorption off-road. 33" tires on 20" wheels just do not offer enough sidewall. They look great, but do not perform. Number 3, you'll probably be able to get a full set of nice aftermarket wheels with a proper offset and backspacing AND the tires for not much more than the cost of 20" tires alone.
20s are for 4x2s, pavement queens or SFA trucks where you can lift enough to have 37" tires which IMO is the minimum tire that will perform off pavement with 20" wheels.
As far as tire choices go, Cooper Zeon LTZs are a nice A/T tire at a good price for mainly road use, Nitto Terra Grapplers are a great tire for a daily driver that can be good off the road on weekends. Both are relatively quiet for an aggressive tread and neither are terribly expensive. Mickey Thompson ATZs are a fantastic all-terrain tire that most people can get 60,000 miles + out of, although they are by no means cheap.
Anything much more aggressive whether it be an All-Terrain/Mud Terrain hybrid like my Cepek FCIIs or a true Mud Terrain tire will start to get loud on pavement...

Cooper Zeon LTZs on my stock 20s, ride is great, wet traction is phenomenal compare to the stock Badyears (literally sliding on surface water, Badyears are total garbage). No experience with snow/ice yet but will find out this winter. No more road noise than stock and they look great!
Love my Zeons until the white stuff hits the ground.IMO they pretty much suck in the snow.Im not sure if its the tire or the fact the 20s are so wide and theres just to much rubber on the road.I was in 4 wheel drive last winter more than i was out with the Zeons. As far as mud and dirt they are awesome and they do handle very nice in all conditions except snow.
