Default One Dead Dodge - Need Help Please

2005 Dodge Ram 1500
4.7
100k
Automatic

The truck wont start.
Fuel pump works. 50 psi

New plugs. Coils seem good.

Truck is getting power. Starter is turning.

Mechanic said it could be a timing chain, but hes not sure?
Any ideas? I can sit here and test stuff all day long. Let me know if you have any ideas please.

When did this problem start? Did it have a notable death, pinging, loud bang, anything?
Any previous issues? head gasket problems, PCM replacement/issues?

without any more information your only option is to start pulling it apart and testing

Just have to work through the basics.
-Reset the computer by touching positive battery cable to neg terminal for ~30 sec
-You have fuel
-check to make sure you have spark
-I am assuming that the engine is turning over (since you said the starter is turning). ----Check timing chain
-Check compression as well.

lmao, isn't the mechanic suppose to find the problem? or is this a guy who gave free useless advice?..haha

You say the coils seem to be good. Have you tested them to make sure you are getting spark?
My guess would be they are good and you should look into a crank or cam sensor.
Are you getting any beginnings of a start like it wants to fire? Any backfiring goin on or is it just a dead motor that just winds over and over?
gotta make sure your getting fuel to the injectors too. push the shrader valve in while wearing eye prtection and see if anything comes out. it should especially after you prime the key for 5sec.

How do you check the timing chain?

It has fuel, and has good fuel pressure.

We do have a spark.

It turns over, but never actually tries to start. Starter fluid doesn't help.

It is throwing P0700 Transmission Control
and an EGR code

Nothing weird, just wouldn't start one day. After ripping into it you can tell this truck has not been well taken care of...

I had same thing and it was the camshaft position sensor. Not expensive or very hard to replace. Definitely worth trying.
