Issues with current flow
Hey all, I have a '03 1500 with about 75000 miles on it, and after coming back from Afghanistan, my fiance said she never had any problems with it. I've been home about a week and just this morning I went to start her up, and she wasn't getting any power. I finally got her started, but she is idling far too low (down to about 500rpm) and unless I punch it to give her gas, she doesn't like to climb in RPM until she gets over 1000. I know that anything under 900 RPM the current comes from the battery and not the alternator, but my battery is new. Should I just change it again anyway, or get the entire charge system looked at?
Tim, welcome home.
Just to mention we have a 03 Forgotten Club for 03 specific issues, the link is in my signature. As for your problem I would disconnect the battery and charge it full and have it tested. If it passes, cleanup everything and see if that fixed the problem.. Good luck..

Hello AP, the 03's are unique in has they are the first of the hemi's. They have a one year PCM with a seperate trans controller. There is little tuning support and no trans support available. So we are basically forgotten.
Thanks
It's good to be back in the ole US of A. Well my battery is good, and yet she still goes low on the RPMs in idle. So I should check the whole charge system before I assume it's the alternator itself correct?
