A/C Compressor Clutch
Well its summer and I have no a/c. So I've been doing research on the site, and I can tell you that my fan is working great, so I ruled that out. What I did notice was my pressure was really high and my compressor clutch was disengaged. So I bled some of the psi out and boom I have cold air and my compressor clutch was running. So I went for a joy ride with nice cold a/c and then 10 min. later warm air starts to kick in. So I pull over and check my pressure. It was really high again and my compressor clutch was disengaged. So once again I bled out some of the system got it down to a normal level and now my compressor clutch will not engage. Does anyone think that my compressor clutch is going bad? (Need help........have a pregnant wife dieing while towing on camping trips.)
Just how are you determining your pressure is high? What gauges are you using? What pressures are you reading? And if you never added refrigerant then it is likely you were never over pressurized which means what coolant you did have, you let out thinking you were too high which means now you have less and made a current problem worse.
I was going by the gauge that came with the quick fix can. So if I screwed it up more do I have to vacuum the system and start from scratch? Does the clutch know if the system is under/over pressurized?

Yes the system has pressure sensors. If the pressure is too high you probably got air in the system, in which case you need to recover it. Oh, and look over the refrigerant lines for kinks (sharp bends flattened spots etc.).
