Default License Plate Lights

I recently got LED lights to replace my stock license plate lights, but before I put them in I would like to take off the glass piece that the light shines through to illuminate the license plate. I have heard that there are clips holding these glass/plastic pieces in. I have a pic posted below to show you what I'm looking at.

Does this silver/gray piece flip open, allowing me to take the plastic pieces out? I don't want to try to flip it open and end up breaking something lol..

unplug the light, then remove that silver clip piece and the light holder should pop out

Yep.....what he said^^^^^
Slide the silver clip from the right to the left using the large flat tap at the far left edge of the clip.
It's a spring loaded type of clip, that puts pressure on the light housing to keep it fixed into position.
