Default 3.55's and tires ?

Ok i know alot of you have said you need 3.92 or bigger gears to run 35's... I am wondering if anyone has stayed with the 3.55's and tried it.. what things do you notice, acceleration, mpg's, power? i guess this would be for anyone that has done this. just curious.

If you are gonna run 35s with 3.55s then IMO you need to lose the 20" wheels and go with 35s on 17s, there is a good bit of weight difference turning 20s...

i have 33s on 17s with the 3.55s and there is a signifigant difference between my 33s and the stock tires my truck had when i purchased it! i would upgrade my gears in a heart beat if i had the money!

It'll probably feel a bit puny. I can feel a difference on mine just going from 265/70 to 285/70 (17")

I have the 3.55's and Im running a 36" tire w/ a 20" rim... acceleration from a stop sucks, mpg's.. im getting 8.4.. my tranny temp light comes on, but its done that even when i had stock wheels and tires.. Its not bad to just run around town, but i wanna go bigger gears to see more power out of it...

Like guys have said, it can be done but obviously from what they are telling you, its not what you want to do. Ive got 456s turning 24s with 36" tires and my truck will jump.

my truck went with 3.55's and 35's on 17's for 28k miles before i bought it. When i first bought it I thought, wow this truck has a lot of power. It didnt accelerate like I was used to, cause I was driving a 4th gen Firebird Formula at the time with an LS1. I was still impressed with how quick the engine got that much weight moving, but didnt know the difference I would feel when getting gears.

Have you ever had to wear ankle weights? For high school basketball training we had to wear ankle weights 24/7 for a week to improve our leg strength. Adding gears with 35's is like taking off the ankle weights. It'll move with the 3.55 (ankle weights) and you'll get used to it, but switch to the 4.56 and you'll wonder why you didnt do it sooner

so what your saying is i need to loose the ankle weights huh. i got the 3.55s with 285/65/R20 over all the truck is quick but i can't break any traction like i could with my 33's or even my 31.5 that i got on my winter rims.
