Second guessing my 268
I've been browsing around here and am kinda second guessing my cam choice.
I bought a 268 to put in here with the usual springs and pushrods.
I'm also going to be doing ported stock heads at the same time.
Question 1: Can I run it off just my superchip until I get some datalogs for a custom tune?
Question 2: Is the 268 gonna leave me upset at the racetrack? This truck is mostly a daily driver but I'm getting into racing it more and more.
Thanks for letting me dip into the pool of knowledge

First: It wont run off of the superchips tune, its to aggressive of a cam so custom tuning is a must.
Second: The 268 is a mid to high range cam, not a lowend cam like you would want in a big quadcab like yours. In order to get it up to the rpm range where that cam would make the most power you would need gears and a TC.
IT is a great cam for the track but without the supporting mods, specially on a big HEAVY 4x4 quadcab like yours, it may bring you and your wallet more heartache than anything. That cam is going in my truck later this summer but I got all the necessary equipment to go with it. For your truck the 260 would probably have been the better choice since it is a lowend cam and I believe will run off a superchips tune
