Sorry to be repetitious but did you lift the truck and pull left to right and up and down on the tire to check all of that?

have you made sure that your pads are all snug in the caliper mounting bracket? a lot of times new pads dont come with new pad shims and if they dont sometimes the pads will knock back and forth in the bracket and make that exact noise your describing. check it out. just an idea

JOHNSN10, did you ever figure this out. I have the exact same problem in my 2004 2500 4x4 with 70k. Knocking at low speeds and some binding type knocking sounds in tight turns. I'm guessing my outer u-joints, but am searching through dozens of "knocking" threads right now trying to glean other ideas before I spend $700 at the stealership.

 

In the end of my issue (not that youre asking but I wanna clarify on my earlier posts) it wasnt my wheel bearing but rather my sway bar link popping when the sway bar flexed

 

Crazy how many "knocking" and "popping" threads there are on the forum.

I've been searching and reading for days now...there's hundreds of posts.

Most of them just stop though, with no resolution.

My 2004 2500 is currently suffering from a popping at low speeds, which I'm 95% sure is emanating from the from left wheel, which I'm assuming is going to be the outer U-joint. It does it whether i'm turning or not, but definitely more pronounced when turning. Anyway, slog on I will. Once it stops snowing here in Seattle I'll climb under there and get started tearing things apart.

 

This was what I was hearing and then my wheel bearing gave out completely (after about 2 months) bent the caliper and more. I had assumed it was brakes which were due, it blew out as I was going to do the brakes at work.

Check where the inner CV joint meets the differential housing to see if it "woobles" around at all. It might be as simple as a twenty cent o-ring. Found that out the hard way after replacing the CV shaft and differential output shaft and there still was a wooble. Until I noticed on the parts diagram the o-ring that was blown out.

 

Finally got it up, and checked a tire movement and found none whatsoever (=wheel bearings ok). Rolled the tire to listen for the popping, but nothing...until i reversed directions...the u-joints are loose as a goose and make a nice clunking sound when wiggled.
