Default E-fan Project

Hey guys. I'm moving on to the e-fan mod after I recently installed a 180 t-stat. I just have a question about the fan. I know a lot of people put the taurus fans in there with the stock shroud. Is this really necessary or can you use a shroud that the taurus fan uses? I'm trying to go the least painful route without shelling out $250+ for a flex-a-lite. I already got the controller: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...1105&viewitem=

I'm thinking about getting this in case I need to use the stock shroud: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Engin...Q5fAccessories

Does that look right? Thanks guys!

That's NOT the taurus fan guys use. They are using the 91-95 3.8L 2speed fans that pull an extreme amount of air. 3,000+cfm's
Using the stock Ram shroud with the taurus fan allows the air to be directed closer to the engine and retains the fluid containers that are bolted to it.
I have not done the e-fan installation although i do have a brand new fan sitting on my shelf in the garage.

Default You need the 3.8L Taurus fan

I bought my controller at Advance Auto Parts for $30 and my Taurus fan for $20 at a pick and pull. Very easy to remove from the vehicle . Check my photo bucket link for a few pics of my install. Not the prettiest but it works.

So then I would need something like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1993-...Q5fAccessories

I don't mind paying the extra money for a brand new fan. I just want to make sure it's the right one and it works.

That is what guys are running, but I'm not sure if the aftermarket "replacements" have the same amount of pull as the OEM's. I wish i could tell you they did because $75 is darn good. Maybe you can be the ginuea pig and let everyone know??..oink..oink...lol

Alright I bought the fan. Anything else I need besides that and the controller I got? I heard some guys say they needed something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Anybody know anything about it?

nah, just cut the connector off that comes attached and splice the wiring. You''ll need a 60A relay as well. You may pop the 40 unless it's a high surge.

Like Dirty said, cut the pigtail off the end of the fan and splice the wires in whatever fashion you like. I put heavy insulated spade quick disconnects on mine and they work fine. I also have a Hayden controller I picked up from Advance Auto for about $40 I think. It cam with a 40/60 amp relay and works fine on the low speed side of the fan. I tried to once on the high speed and quickly popped the 25A MAXI fuse the controller had. So Im sure I will need a 60/80 amp relay and a different/bigger fuse holder if i want to go to the high speed side (which i will soon do).

Blake, when you get the fan in, chime in and let us know the guage thickness of the wires for the pigtail. I'm kinda curious and would appreciate it.
