2006 ram 4x4 tranny problems
Yeah....Couldn't harm anything and might also be a simpler problem as you say.
I guess you could swap a coil pack over to see if it's one of those missfiring?
Also check the plugs and substute new ones.
Would a bad injector cause a missfire........propbably yes.
However, I would think specific identifying codes would be thrown for the above though.
A quick removal of the rocker box for a spring inspection is easy enough to do after those checks. But.....look carefully at those springs. Sometimes it's very hard to see if they're broken.

Ok guys. So here is the latest. bear with me. It may be long. I called Autozone today to get some pricing on these springs. Talking to the guy there he suggested first replacing the plugs on that cylinder. Then swap the coil packs on 7 and 1 (it was reading a misfire on cyl 7). So I got plugs and came back and replaced the plugs and swapped the coils. I disconnected the battery while doing it to reset the computer. Got it all back together and started it. It sat idling perfect. I put it in reverse and sat there - perfect. So I took it up the road. It started the same thing after a while. I turned around to head home and it stopped and drove fine. So while I was on the road, I took it to Autozone to see if the misfire moved from 7 to 1. It didnt, it still read on 7. But on the way, I would pull up to a redlight, it would idle rough. Then the next, smooth. Then smooth, rough, smooth, smooth, rough smooth, etc. The problem was definately different and almost better than last night. On the way back, I noticed I needed gas. I stopped and filled it with premium. The problem has seemed to stop. I noticed a couple of months ago after the flood ( I live in Nashville), that it started idling really bad when it hit "E" and told my daughter I must have picked up some water in the tank. I filled it and I havent had the problem since until last night when we got alot of rain. If you remember, one of my codes is a leak that is around the neck where it connects to the tank. I cant fill it all the way as it tends to drip. Could this be water in my tank? Right before coming home, it has been running like always which is pretty good. I do notice a VERY slight vibration if slipping into O/D which I think has always been there. But at the same time I could be simply be paranoid.
So, my question is this. I am used to mechanical things that break giving a consistant problem - i.e if I am missing a cylinder, wouldnt it be rough all the time no matter what? Shouldnt I hear rattling or something going on with the exhaust? The codes read a misfire on same cylinder 7 and that is with new plugs and basically new coil. Is there something else I should look for too? Also, btw, the hood label calls for the plugs to be gapped at .045. The ones I pulled out were .060 and .065. Big difference?
Thanks again for everyone's help.

I had to drive out to meet a client. Drove the truck about 20 miles total. It didnt act up at all. This is with a full tank. So I am confused. I did pick up new plugs since I have never given it a tuneup. I will keep checking things and see if I can figure out something. I will also check into the injector too and see if that is causing an issue. As for now, The "Beast" is back to normal. Thanks for all your help. If you think of anything else, let me know.
