Could it be wheels/tires? I'm a balluh and gots dem flower dubs so I'm not sure if that helps or hurts towing capacity.

1500's were practically made to tow wakeboard boats. Don't worry about anything. BTW, what year boat? Is it the pickle fork bow? I want a x-star so bad. I got to the point where the boat wake actually makes a different in my riding.

I know guys that are pushing 10000 pounds...if course thats with the FULL tow package, weight distribution hitch, electronic brakes, and helper bags. Your Hemi wont feel it power wise, gas wise it might...I pulled a 27ft holiday trailer with my 07 1500, stock tow package. the trailers weighed in at 7800 FULL...i never had a issue but with the gas mileage...

the 20's are the reason for the 1000lb difference

It's a 2000 so it has the regular pointed bow. No tower or ballast at the moment but once we recover financially from the boat purchase and the truck upgrade I will be adding that and essentially making it into an X-30.

I've been wakeboarding since '91 but always behind fishing boats and the occasional I/O. Haven't been able to get on the water much for the last 10 years or so though. Gotta get my skills and my ***** back. Not sure that I'll ever be back to where I was in jr. high and high school though. I don't remember every thinking "Maybe I shouldn't try this because I might get hurt" back then.

The standard tranny cooler is 10 tube, the 2500 and 3500 have a HD 15 tube version. They bolt in. Same everything. I got mine from a wrecking yard, $50.00
