Okay, first does it really matter if it is 3" or 4" wide? Would it really make a difference for a V6? Next, how do I go about taking the hat off? And last, about how long does it take, those of you who have also done homebrew.

BTW I have a list of parts, I know where to get them and all that I just need a bit of help on the above.
