Default Finally

Started last night around 7pm and gave up at 10 last night. Then this morning at 9am started again on the lower ball joints. Had to beat the axles with a 6 pound sledge hammer to get those bastards out. Ball joints are in and now wait until monday to order 2 new axles. What a pain in the butt. I could not give up and let the dealer do the job. I have been a mecahnic for 17 years and have never seen axles seized in so bad.

A job that shoud have taken me roughly 3 hours total for both ball joints has taken 10 plus hours.

Almost but I know they would have had to replace knuckle, bearing, axle and lower control arm.

You know......they amount of threads I've read recently, about seized 4x4 cv half shafts and the struggles people have to get them out.
It makes me think that anyone with this design (1500 owners), should pull the shafts if they can and greasre them up as preventative maintenance measures.
