Default 4x4 Low problem

Let me first say i can put the truck into 4 auto and 4x4 high perfectly fine but to get it into 4 low i have to put the truck in nuetural and then flip the switch and put it in drive. Now to get it back out of 4 low i have to go in reverse then nuetural and flip the switch. The key factor that made this happen was me getting stuck on the beach. The front end did get salt water on it, but this problem is consistant it doesn't change. i'm thinking i need to replace the accuator motor any thoughts?

Now I have the stick for shifting into and out of 4 wheel drive (and it was hell finding a Laramie without the push button electronic shift) and I have to come to a complete stop and shift into neutral to shift to 4 Lo.

What does your manual say?

Had mine in 4 low at the weekend and I have to go into neutral to enable low to engage, same to disengage it, shouldn't have to go into reverse, at least I don't on mine.....

Huh interesting i have no serv 4x4 light or anything, but i use to be able to go about 5mph and just flip the switch and it would go into 4 low. I'm not complaining since the front end was roughly 3ft under salt water for 3 hours, but i guess just a new quirk of the truck.

it calls for a 3-5 mph roll to engage 4x4 low.

Your gears has to mesh to be able to engage. They arent synchronized so you have to be moving slowly to engage. The transmission needs to be in neutral so the input shaft of transfercase will stop so they will engage.
