Default Brakes DWD vs SWD Does more rubber give more braking?

Hi Guys, Does anyone know if having dual wheel drive stops any faster then single wheel drive? I guess that tire size might be a variable. I suspect that the brake size is the same. I'm trying to justify a DWD for towing my 5th wheel. But if the breaking is the same I could get by with a 2500 instead of a 3500. All input is appreciated. Thanks for your help!

I don't know if there's 2 sets of brakes for that matter, but 4 tires in contact with the pavement will prevent skidding over just 2 wheels touching the pavement. I think the real question here is what is the tongue weight of the 5th wheel you plan to tow.
Asking what stops better is kinda saying you drive too fast...

From my experience and as well as talking to buddies, Anything over eh 35 ft you should get a dually. The SRW will tow it fine but its when the wind kicks up or the roads get narrow and windy that you will be ****ting your pants. It sucks to have a too small of tow vehicle. What will help also is a long bed for the longer wheel base.
