Question Leaked the whole resovoir of windshield wiper fluid out??

So I just picked my '05 Cummins 2500 today. Drove for 50 or 60 miles and when I took it out to grab a bite from the hotel and cameback, I tried to use to windshield wiper fluid to cleanup the dirty windshield. Hit the button atleast 5 or 6 times and nothing happened...I guess the line is clogged or something?? Then I pull in the hotel and the truck pissed out every single drop of windshield wiperfluid out of the overflow line. And it was completely topped off when I got it this morning. So I guess jamming the button several times on the way back caused this. But why? And why is the fluid not reaching the windshield.

If anyone has some ideas I like to know what is going on with this. Thx in advance.

Two possibilities-

1) Clog in the line, trace the line and disconnect at each connection and see if fluid will still flow.

2) Windshield fluid motor needs to be replaced.

it leaked all of the fluid from the overflow line?
this doesn't make sense.

There are three things that could prove to be an issue.
  • the reservoir is breached - which is the least likely situation, unless you've had a collision...
  • The level sensor is leaking at the reservoir seal
  • the motor or hose is leaking at the reservoir seal or motor/pump body.

Did you look at the bottom of the container for any hairline cracks? cold/hot expansion could seperate a crack so the fluid escapes, but those rarely crack unless there has been an accident of some sort??

Thats why I'm confued. I inspected the whole container very well and there are absolutely no hair line cracks or leaks anywhere.

No keep in mind this did not happen until I hit the button like five times when nothing happened. one minute later, pull in the hotel and the entire bottle of fluid is forced out of the overflow line. The unit was slap full when picked up in the morning.

So I'm thinking maybe I created a vaccum in the wiper fluid lines somehow to force fluid out the overflow line when I tried to get the fluid to the windshield. IDK how to fix this...
