all car companys are somewhat similar, but different. I keep to mopar

i have a buddy that works at ford, he always tells me " all we do is put in engines and rebuild them"

i have another buddy that works at chevrolet, gmc, he always tells me " all we do is put in and rebuild transmissions"

i currently at am a chrysler dodge jeep and we DONT ever put in engines or transmissions. at our shop we have had 2 engines put in in the last 2 years and 1 was becuase the guy tried excaping warranty by going 38,000 miles on an oil change

All 5.7s were made in Mexico.

My 06 has under 70k miles and has already had the drivers side front hub bearing replaced along with the ball joints. I now have the passanger side bearing squeeking and wiggling, and the tie rod end is loose. But, after owning my 2ng gen for 170k miles, Im used to this stuff.

I do love the truck though. Very stout feeling when driving, and feels like it has double the power that the old 5.9 ever dreamed of having.

If interior build quality, low end power and a strong transmission are things you really do not care about then a 3rd gen should be fine. If those do matter find something else. The interior snaps together like lego and has a cheap finish to it, the seats are tolerable I guess but nothing like GMT 800 leather buckets, The Hemi is a peaky beast and needs the **** revved outta it to tow anything more that 6000lbs even with my 4.56's over drive seems impossible when pulling some weight and every time that trans makes a buttery shift under full throttle or it drops into 2nd prime when passing it makes you wonder if the next shift could be the last. I do not hate my truck (I have grown quite attached it has sentimental value in a way) I have just been made aware of the MANY flaws it has and for this I have to say my first Dodge is going to be my last.

thats a hemi in a 2500 (8000lb truck) right?
my 1500 (5500lb) hemi pulls 6000lb just fine
if you want to pull more than 5000lb regularly i would get a CTD
also have you seen the interior of a 2005 F150? gross is all i have to say, i guess its personal test

not trying to start a post war

anyways i think the 3rd gens are good, when i got my 05 it already had the front end rebuilt (new grease-able ball joints and tie rod ends) that is something to look for when your buying.
overall my 05 1500 has been much better than my friends 05 F-150 he just dumped $3000 into the motor and i have yet to replace anything (knock on wood) we both got our truck about a year ago

and i don't exactly take it easy on or off road and have the "if you cant dodge it ram it" attitude lol

I think he meant the motor itself.

I have an 06 dodge ram with 57k miles, replaced both ball joints, tierod ends, and the struts (one was my fault, other just went bad).... i did everything myself, which wasnt expensive, and u can buy everything with usually a lifetime warrenty so u only have to do it once... i have no regrets and will buy a dodge again for my next truck which will be a CTD!!!
